Today, on Friday September 1st 2023, we are celebrating Starts at Home Day – a significant occasion dedicated to acknowledging the immense value of supported housing and the multitude of benefits it brings to individuals and communities.

Starts at Home is a directive created by the National Housing Federation and has evolved into a national movement, championing the cause of supported housing and its influence on countless lives. Originating back in 2015, it emerged as a response to shifts in government funding for supported housing.

Its primary objective was to highlight the indispensable importance and worth that this form of housing offers.

Supported housing encompasses a diverse array of services, spanning from addressing domestic abuse and homelessness issues to providing crucial mental health assistance and comprehensive support for complex needs. The common thread uniting these services is their tangible and uplifting impact on the lives of numerous individuals.
