Trident is becoming Deaf Aware
Posted on: 15 Aug 24
As a Disability Confident Employer, we provided Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language training for colleagues.
Trident are committed to supporting people with accessibility needs to improve the experience of our Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents and colleagues.
As part of this over the summer 30 colleagues have been attending Deaf Awareness Training courses hosted by BID Services to learn about Deaf culture and a little British Sign Language. This included a session on understanding the challenges Deaf and Hard of Hearing people face accessing basic services and how we can help make Trident more accessible.
The groups included the Chief Executive, colleagues in HR and our housing and support teams. This is to ensure we can support residents and colleagues equally and continue our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Our colleagues said:
It was a great session and gained so much from it! The course was delivered by Jet who made this enjoyable and very interesting. I feel much more confident in communicating with a Deaf person now.
