Starts at Home Day: Celebrating the Champions of Supported Housing
Starts at Home Day is our annual chance to celebrate the positive impact of supported housing on communities across the country. It’s also an opportunity to spotlight the essential role supported housing plays within our housing, health, social care, and criminal justice systems.
At Trident, we’re all about empowering our residents to race towards independence, and often this journey involves building their confidence along the way.
One of our amazing support workers, Gary Dunning, helped our resident Alan Caddick this year by organising a trip to the Aintree Grand National. The event gave Alan the chance to video log his experience!
Alan has been a resident with us since 2003, and he was over the moon to showcase his vibrant personality and energy on camera. Not only did he manage to back the right horse and win some cash, but Alan’s day was also made complete by a meet-and-greet with ITV’s Brian Gleeson—talk about hitting the jackpot!
We’re immensely proud of the dedication shown by our Support Workers. Gary, who says he “loves working with people on the autistic spectrum,” focuses on every individuals skills and passions to help residents like Alan gallop beyond their comfort zones.
This tailored approach is a winner for Alan, and it’s one we apply to everyone in our supported housing schemes at Trident.
