Matrix Housing Partnership secures funding to improve energy efficiency of more than 900 homes

Posted on: 22 Mar 23

Trident Group and its Matrix partners have secured funding to make 905 homes across the Midlands and South West more energy efficient.

15% of the UK’s total energy consumption comes from heating traditional properties, so improving energy efficiency in homes is crucial and Trident is proud to be part of this forward-thinking project.

The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has awarded the Matrix Housing Partnership more than £12million to assist with the delivery of works to enhance the energy performance of their homes from its Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

Funded by DESNZ, members of the Matrix Housing Partnership will deliver a variety of regeneration works including cavity wall insulation, installing new windows and doors, loft insulation, and measures to improve ventilation. The works are targeted to upgrade older homes owned by the partnership so that they have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of at least C.

This latest funding follows a successful trial completed late last year where residents living in Bramble Court and Mount Pleasant saw their homes’ energy efficiency improved as part of a wider trial with our Matrix partners.

Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, said: “This investment will help thousands of households to heat their homes for less, keep them warm for longer and could save hundreds on their annual energy bill. The green energy sector is growing, and this funding will support green jobs and provide the training needed to deliver these vital upgrades to homes.”

The Matrix Housing Partnership is a partnership between seven social landlords including Trident Group, GreenSquareAccord, Black Country Housing Group, Citizen Housing Group, Pioneer, Housing and Community Group, Rooftop Housing Association, and Trent & Dove Housing. By working together, we can pool resources to win bids and applications like this one so that we can all continue to provide good quality and affordable housing for our residents.

Gareth Price, the Group’s Director of Technical Services, said: “Trident is committed along with our partners to continuously improving our offer to our residents as well as improving our response to the climate crisis”.
