The 14 2 bedroom apartments have been shortlisted in the best supported housing development – urban category.
Trident Group have been shortlisted in the best supported housing development – urban for its stunning brand new development in Yardley providing housing for adults living with learning disabilities and/ or autism.
The apartments are all built to future homes standards and designed using air source heat pumps to make them more energy efficient improving the life quality of our residents and saving the environment. The development also follows the NHS campaign to encourage people to live independently rather than in care schemes.
Most importantly the scheme improves the life experience of our residents. People with learning disabilities can be isolated from their community and have poorer health to others. Our schemes mean that we can support people to achieve their potential. One resident was supported from using food banks to becoming a Teaching Assistant. This is impressive when unemployment rates amongst people with autism is at 78%. He said: “I never give up and try to find alternate ways to get around things. I am very dedicated to started working and will put not only a positive life on myself, but to other people too.”
Our Chief Executive and Group Director of Finance commented on the news.
Fantastic recognition of the much needed services to members of the community who might otherwise be left unsupported.
Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive
“This is an amazing development transformed from an old builder’s yard, offering opportunity for the residents to be supported in living independently in a brand-new home. The properties are built to good specifications, featuring all new air source heat pump technology which moves away from gas heating to more renewable sources. We are delighted that this has been recognised by the panel.”
