Rough Sleepers Outreach Team wins award

Posted on: 09 Mar 21

Trident Reach’s Rough Sleepers Outreach Team and the wider Homeless Services team at Washington Court, a 101-bed homeless hostel in the City, were recently awarded ‘The Outreach Commendation Award’ at the Wonders of Westside Awards (WOWs), organised by Birmingham’s Westside BID.

The WOWs are held annually to recognise individuals and businesses that go the extra mile, and they were even more special in the last year because of Westside’s achievements despite COVID-19. The awards event was live streamed on YouTube from Craft Birmingham and was presented by Westside’s General Manager Mike Olley, Business Liaison Manager Elaine Weir, and Media Manager Luisa Huggins.

Trident Reach have been awarded ‘The Outreach Commendation Award’ for its rough sleeper outreach work in Birmingham. Although an extremely challenging year for all, the Rough Sleeper Outreach Team has been out on patrol every day in the last 12 months, with the team patrolling throughout the night in recent months.

Paul McKeown, Trident Reach’s Rough Sleeper Outreach Team Leader said: “We are so pleased to receive an award like this. It is humbling and shows our work is being recognised and appreciated. We would like to thank all those supporting agencies who we work with on a daily basis and who support our outreach work on the streets of Birmingham.”
