Residents mobilise to help Christmas appeal

Posted on: 03 Nov 21

Residents of the Cock Hill estate in Rubery have organised a jumble sale to be held at Deelands Hall. The sale will be held on Saturday, 13th November from midday until 4pm.

Three women from the estate have organised this jumble sale as they are recipients of Christmas hampers from Trident Reach. They wanted to raise money to support Bernie McFall who organises the Christmas hamper appeal at Deelands Hall; to give back for all the support they have received over the years. The women are all single mothers living on one of the most deprived estates in the country. They have worked hard to organise this event, and for one of the women who was recently widowed, it has given her a sense of purpose.

As well as the jumble sale there will be a raffle with great prizes to be won, including:

  • Food hamper plus a £10 voucher for W&J Mason Butchers
  • Hair by Toni Salon Experience, worth £55
  • Chocolate bouquet
  • Fruit basket
  • Large cake

Additionally, there will be a fundraising auction for the Christmas hamper appeal; held at Deelands Hall on Friday, 3rd December at 1pm. This will also be accessible virtually via Zoom link, details which will be released nearer to the event. Items available for auction will include a signed pennant from Birmingham City FC and a vintage Jennifer Esteban doll called ‘Cleo’. All are welcome to attend.

Volunteers are needed for the auction. If you have any experience in auctioneering or love auction TV shows and have always fancied a go — contact Bernie McFall directly on 07734 882 237 or email via berniem@tridentreach.org.uk.
