Radon Gas – What You Need to Know
At Trident Housing Association, your health and safety are our top priorities. As part of our commitment to maintaining safe and healthy homes, we want to share some important information about radon gas—a naturally occurring gas that can sometimes be found in buildings.
What is Radon?
Radon is a gas that comes from rocks and soil. It’s naturally present in the air we breathe, usually at very low levels. In some areas, however, it can build up indoors—especially in enclosed spaces like basements or ground floors.
Why Are We Talking About It?
Long-term exposure to high levels of radon can be harmful to your health. That’s why the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recommends monitoring radon levels in certain areas. We want to raise awareness and let you know what we’re doing to keep your home safe.
What Is Trident Doing?
We are:
- Identifying properties in areas where radon may be more common
- Carrying out radon testing where needed
- Taking action, such as improving ventilation, if high levels are found
- If your home is selected for testing, we’ll contact you directly with more information and support.
What Can You Do?
You don’t need to do anything unless we contact you. However, if you have concerns or just want to learn more, we’re here to help. You can also find more information at UK Radon.
Reassurance First
Please remember: for most people, radon levels at home are extremely low and not a cause for concern. Our goal is simply to be proactive and ensure every home meets safety standards.
