Trident Group welcomes the spending review and the government’s commitment to social housing.
The spending review included:
- An announcement of £39bn allocated for social housing in England between 2026 and 2036.
- A commitment to a long term rent settlement which means that rent will continue to be calculated at Consumer Price Index plus one percent for a decade.
- A consultation on the return to social rent convergance.
Trident are also pleased to see a commitment to providing funding for homelessness and to finally scrapping the Vagrancy Act.
We are however committed to continuing to promote supported housing and the difference it makes to our customers.
Our Chief Executive, Nigel Wilson, said:
“The government is making a significant commitment to a ten year plan and increasing investment, this allied to rental increase certainty is what the sector has been requesting so now we must deliver as a sector!”
We continue to work with our partners across the sector in backing social housing including supported housing and providing the high quality service our residents expect.
