Our Domestic Abuse Teams are always finding creative ways to bring joy and spark collaboration on site, as we see managing relationships as key to regaining confidence.
This idea of working together towards a shared goal was at the heart of a recent archery activity hosted at one of our sites. Children and their mothers took part side by side, learning the basics of archery in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
As the arrows began to hit the target, the session became about more than just a fun way to learn a skill, as mothers and children encouraged one another and celebrated small successes together. Working together to hit targets was almost a symbolic metaphor of the growing relationships on site as everything works to encourage each other to keep moving forward.
Confidence grew throughout the session, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. Some families left feeling inspired to explore beginner archery clubs across Birmingham and continue their journey together.
The teamwork behind the scenes was just as important. Domestic Abuse teams worked closely together to plan and deliver an activity that supports wellbeing, builds confidence and creates positive shared experiences for families.
We would like to thank our volunteer archery coach for giving their time and expertise, and our staff for helping create a space where families could feel supported, empowered and proud of what they achieved together.
