At Trident Group, your safety is our top priority. We are committed to ensuring that all our residents feel safe, supported, and informed about important developments that may affect their wellbeing.
What is PEEP?
A PEEP is a plan that explains what help or special arrangements a person might need to safely leave a building in an emergency, especially if they might have trouble hearing a fire alarm or getting out on their own.
Some people might need extra help to leave quickly and safely. This could be because they:
- Use a wheelchair
- Can’t see or hear very well
- Have trouble walking
- Get confused easily
A PEEP explains:
- Who will help the person
- Where they will go
- How they will get there
- What equipment they might need (like an evacuation chair)
In summary, PEEP is like a safety plan made just for that person, so everyone knows what to do to keep them safe.
Why are we introducing PEEP?
The UK Government has recently published updated guidance on Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) which will go into affect in April 2026. This guidance is aimed at helping residents who may need additional support to safely evacuate a building in the unlikely event of an emergency, such as a fire.
These plans are especially important for residents who:
- Have a physical disability or limited mobility
- Have a sensory impairment (e.g., sight or hearing loss)
- May need support in understanding emergency procedures
We are currently reviewing this guidance to ensure our approach remains in line with the latest advice, and we are here to help you every step of the way.
What can you do to be prepared?
If you believe you or someone in your household might benefit from having a PEEP in place, or if you would like more information about what this means, we encourage you to get in touch with our Compliance Team.
