At Trident Group, we’re proud to be a pet‑positive organisation.
We know that pets can play a hugely important role in people’s lives — offering companionship, routine and emotional support. For many people, especially some of our Trident Reach residents and those living within our homeless pathways, pets can make a real difference to mental wellbeing, recovery and stability.
That’s why we have a clear and considered Pet Policy that supports responsible pet ownership, while also making sure our homes remain safe, suitable and comfortable for everyone who lives in them.
We do however like to know which of our homes have pets, so we do ask if you can send a formal request and keep us informed on what pets you have in the home.
- We welcome pets where accommodation is suitable, and where they can be cared for responsibly.
- Each request is considered fairly and individually, taking into account the type of pet, the property and the needs of the resident.
- Our approach balances the benefits of pet ownership with the wellbeing, safety and peaceful enjoyment of neighbours and other residents.
- We provide clear guidance for residents on how to request permission, what’s expected of pet owners, and how we manage any concerns if they arise.
Our policy is designed to be enabling, not restrictive. We want residents to enjoy the positive impact pets can bring to their lives, while ensuring animals are well cared for and homes are suitable for them.
One of our residents who was on the homeless pathway really underpinned the importance of being able to keep his dog with him when he entered the scheme stating, “Just after getting my dog i was in a coma, so when i came out having him their was the only thing that kept me here.”
By taking a consistent, compassionate and practical approach, we aim to support residents to build stable, healthy and fulfilling lives — pets included.
For full details, residents and partners can read our complete Pet Policy on the Trident Group housing website.
