Help us keep you safe: Window Restrictors fitting

18 September, 2025

We’re here to keep you safe. That’s why we are doing checks (and will fit) window restrictors in your homes

As part of our commitment to keeping you safe, we will be checking and where necessary fitting brand new window restrictors on all windows in Trident House.

Window restrictors are an important safety feature especially in high rise buildings as they reduce the risk of accidental falls.

These checks should take less than 20 minutes, and all properties will be checked and fitted free of charge to you whether you are a tenant or leaseholder.

How we will fit the restrictors

Your Estate Manager, Communal Services Supervisor, and Building Care team will be fitting the restrictors and will be working through the block. They will knock on your door and fit the devices to all windows in your home.

If you are not in when they come to your home, they will leave a calling card to rearrange a time to come back to fit.

Please do let the team in to do the works as it is an important safety feature designed to keep you safe.

If you have questions, come to our resident meeting on Thursday 25 September at 2pm in the Robert Austen resident lounge.

Help us keep you safe

We understand that you may wish to open your window wider, but we ask that you please let us in to fit them and keep your window restrictors on once fitted. They play an important role in keeping you and your household safe. By keeping them on you reduce the risk of accidental falls that could be fatal.

They are also fitted securely to your windows and any attempt to remove them may damage the windows and you may be recharged for any cost of repairs.

Additional safety tips

  • It is important that you avoid placing furniture near windows where possible as this helps prevent any children or pets climbing and potentially falling.
  • Prevent damp and mould by opening the windows once per day to let out excess moisture
  • Always keep windows closed using the handle and if you have key locks then use them

We are hosting a resident meeting on Thursday 25 September at 2pm in the Robert Austen resident lounge for you to ask any questions.

Alternatively, you can speak to your Building Care Assistant or Building Safety Team by calling 0300 123 1113.
