This year’s Gas Safety Week takes place next week from 8–14 September, marking its 15th anniversary. It’s a time when the industry comes together to raise awareness of gas safety and reinforce the importance of maintaining gas appliances in our homes.
At Trident Group, we’re proud to support this initiative and encourage residents to be proactive about their gas safety. The first step in this is to — ensure you have scheduled you annual gas safety checks with one of our Gas Safe registered engineers. These inspections are vital to ensure all gas appliances are safe, properly maintained, and compliant.
The Silent Threat: Carbon Monoxide Awareness
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless gas produced by faulty or poorly maintained appliances. It’s often called the “silent killer” because it’s virtually undetectable without a proper alarm.
Fact: Each year in the UK, 30 to 53 people die from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. Hundreds more are hospitalised due to exposure.
CO poisoning occurs when the gas displaces oxygen in the bloodstream, leading to serious health risks — including brain and heart damage, and in severe cases, death.
We do not encourage any of our residents to complete their own Gas Work as it is very dangerous and must be completed by a credited professional. Only qualified professionals have the skills and certification to carry out these tasks safely.
We do however promote the installation of a carbon monoxide alarm in your home as its difficult to detect carbon monoxide and leaks without it. This will ensure you keep yourself and your family safe in the home.
