On Global Accessibility Awareness Day we want to talk about how we built accessibility into our website – with your help!
We know how important it is that information about our services is available to you in a way that works for you. To make sure that our website is as accessible as it can be we have designed it with accessibility needs in mind.
This includes a clean and crisp design which makes it easy to read as well as find the information that really matters to you. To make sure that the website met residents needs we invited residents to take part in focus groups and give their feedback. This included individuals living with disabilities including sight loss and learning disabilities to make sure that the design and content was easy to read, find and understand.
One of the customers involved in the process had the following feedback:
It’s clear that considerable thought has gone into improving accessibility, user experience, and service visibility for residents and visitors alike. The new layout, responsive design, and dedicated “My Trident” portal are all welcome improvements that reflect a commitment to resident engagement.
Alongside the tidied up design, layout, and simpler and more friendly language, the website also has an accessibility toolbar. This toolbar provides over 100 languages, screen reading technology, and reading tools. You can access this by pressing the button that says “Accessibility” in the top right corner.
